Intensive Swimming Courses/LessonsAs well as our term-time Swim School lessons, BSS also offers five-day intensive courses throughout the year for both children and adults. Our intensives are great to fill up the school holidays with a healthy activity that boosts swimming ability and skills. We offer our intensive courses in ALL school holidays.
Lessons are typically held in an intensive period of 5 lessons over five days, often Monday to Friday. This is a great way to speed up children's progress in the pool and are great for topping up between term-time lessons, or as a stand alone. The intensives offer 1:1/2:1 lessons. |

Our SEN sessions are for children with additional needs. We aim to provide safe, fun and inclusive lessons.
During these sessions we will have a limited amount of lessons available to ensure the swimming pool doesn't get loud and overcrowded.
We will minimise noise (please note that whistles and fire alarms may still go off during these sessions for health and safety reasons but no planned drills will be arranged during theses sessions).
We will dim the lights in the pool hall.
Visual aids will be available to help with the structure of the lessons and to aid the children.

We have a 1:3 ratio of teacher to child in this class with a maximum of 9 children in each class. Classes are taught out of depth.
Parents are not required to enter the water in these lessons.
Stanley Seals 3/4
Suitable for: Children age 3-5 who are confident in the water and have previously had swimming lessons.
Class aims/description: To continue building water confidence and swimming skills. Start to reduce flotation aid.
Class information: Flotation aids i.e. armbands/floaty jackets are required to be worn during these lessons.

Parents are not required to enter the water in these lessons.

Suitable for: Children age 5+ who are confident in the water and are able to swim with reduced floatation aids.
Class aims/description: To continue to build water confidence and work on swimming skills with reduced flotation eventually leading to swimming without any assistance.

Class aims/description: To continue to work on/developing aquatic skills. Emphasis on learning/fine tuning both front crawl and backstroke technique. The introduction of breaststroke is also brought in at this stage.
