Re-Booking
At Brighton Swimming School we have a re-booking system which gives our existing customers booking priority. Please find below a more detailed description of the system and how it operates.
In Week 8 of every term
In this week our teachers will confirm the classes they recommend for your child/children for the next term. Based on this information your child/children will either become a ‘Stayer’ or a ‘Mover’
Please Note: This is completed at the pools over the weekend in week 8 and only returned to the office on the Monday of week 9. The information will not be available before then.
Stayers – these are swimmers recommended to stay in the same class level for the next term.
Movers – these are swimmers recommended to move up a class level for the next term.
In Week 9 of every term
Stayers
We will automatically re-book them in for the same class, at the same time and at the same location. A reservation letter or email will be sent out on the Tuesday of this week (week 9) confirming these details or you can call the office from the Wednesday (week 9). You will then have 7days to confirm by payment (either 1st or full instalment) if you want to keep this place. If after 7days payment has not been received your booking may be cancelled and places offered to others. If you no longer want this space then please let either the supervisor or office know so the space can be released for others.
If you would prefer a different class time then you will need to let us know you no longer want the space held for you and follow the same process as a ‘Mover’ However, please note once you release your automatically held space you are not guaranteed another space but you do have priority over new customers.
Movers
In week 9 you will need to call the office from the Wednesday or go to the re-booking desk at the pool. Our re-booking staff will be able to tell you which class level has been recommended for your child/children and look for available spaces. These spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis.
Once you have agreed on a space our staff will send/give you a reservation letter or email and you will then have 7days to confirm by payment (either 1st or full instalment) if you want to keep this place. If after 7days payment has not been received your booking may be cancelled and places offered to others.
Please note: spaces in higher level classes cannot be guaranteed in advance but every effort will be made to help you find a convenient class space. You will have booking priority over any new customers.
In Week 10 of every term
The re-booking folders will still be at the pools in this week and you will still be able to try and reserve a space although please note this will be the second week of re-bookings and available spaces may well be limited.
In Week 11 of every term
Within this week all reserved spaces must have been confirmed by payment or your booking may be cancelled and places offered to others.
The re-booking folders will no longer be at the pools and you will have to call the office with regards to any changes.
All spaces remaining will now be offered and available to new customers.
Please read and check your reservation details carefully. If you are unsure of or want to query any details then please phone the office as soon as possible on 01273 425745. After 7days if payment has not been received your booking may be cancelled and places offered to our reserve list.
Brighton Swimming School reserves the right to amend dates, times, classes or fees at any time.
Brighton Swimming School reserves the right to cancel classes in which the number of attendees falls below a viable level. In such cases every effort would be made to find a suitable alternative. If a suitable alternative is not found and the course has already been paid for a credit note for the full course will be issued and can be used for any future course booking. If there are any changes to the existing charge then the difference must be paid. Credit may be given for cancellations at the discretion of the manager and under certain circumstances. In these circumstances written confirmation will be required. Refunds can not be given prior to, during or after the classes. Credits cannot be given for children who refuse to or do not participate in their classes. Every effort is always made at the time to integrate them into their class.
PLEASE NOTE: Out of consideration for other Brighton Swimming School customers if you wish to cancel your lessons please do so at the earliest point possible to release your reserved space for others.
Payment for Brighton Swimming School lessons can be made in the following ways:
PLEASE NOTE: Any unpaid cheque returned to us will incur a £5 administration fee payable to Brighton Swimming School in addition to the normal charge for our swimming lessons. This fee is to cover the charge of £4 that we incur from the bank in this circumstance and for the necessary additional administration.
Please note that if a class or classes are missed for reasons beyond the control of Brighton Swimming School then the provision of a ‘catch-up’ class or classes is not a mandatory service but a courtesy service and goodwill gesture we try and offer to our customers. Their provision cannot be guaranteed and the following conditions apply: The same location, teacher, class size and time cannot be guaranteed.Where possible catch-up classes will first be offered at a Teacher Training Lesson (TTL) session, where the appropriate class level is available. If a catch-up class is to be offered for an alternative Brighton Swimming School class then they can only be arranged to be taken in weeks 4 or 6 of the same term and are subject to spaces and staff being available.
Please advise us at the time of booking of any medical conditions we should be aware of for a swimmer. These can include: asthma, epilepsy, allergies etc
If at any time a swimmers medical condition changes, that we as a company should be aware of, you must inform us as soon as possible. This can either be done by calling the office on 01273 425745 or informing the supervisor at the swimming pool. All medical information will be treated with the strictest confidence. Children who need access to inhalers should take them onto poolside and give them to their teacher or have them readily available for the duration of their lesson.
During the course of the term, if your child suffers from any gastric illnesses please be aware that it is recommended your child does not swim for at least 5 days following. This will help provide a safe and hygienic environment for our swimmers to learn in!
Please make sure your child has at least an hour after eating before having their swimming lesson.
Parents must stay in the vicinity of the swimming pool during their child’s swimming lesson.
Please only park in the designated areas on the schools grounds. This does not include the grass areas unless you are specifically directed to do so by school grounds staff. Brighton Swimming School cannot accept any responsibility for cars parked in the grounds of any of the swimming pools/schools that we use.
Any child of eight years of age and over should get changed in their own sex changing room. Staff will ask any children who appear eight years or older to comply with this request. It is also requested that parents accompanying their children in the changing rooms should observe the ‘Mothers and Children’ and ‘Fathers and Children’ signs.
No outdoor shoes are allowed on poolside. They must be taken off before entering the pool area.
Food and drink is not permitted on any poolside.
It is necessary at both Roedean and Roedean Junior (formerly St. Mary's Hall) Schools for any person entering the water to wear a swimming hat.
Please note that all articles left on the premises at any of the pools we use are left entirely at the owner’s risk. We cannot be held responsible for any lost or damaged items.
All premises are checked by Brighton Swimming School staff at the end of every swimming session and any items found are kept in a secure lost property box at the same premises (see below for exceptions) Exception 1: Any items found deemed to be unsanitary to keep are thrown away instantly. Exception 2: Any items found deemed to be of large monetary value are returned to Brighton Swimming School’s main office. All items are kept for the duration of the term they are found in. At the end of that term, if they have not been claimed, items will either be donated to local charity shops or thrown away. To enquire if something you have lost has been found by us please either call the office on 01273 425745 or ask the Supervisor at the following weeks swimming lessons.
All classes are limited to a maximum size of 9 swimmers. The only exceptions are the Complete Swimmer course which is limited to 20 swimmers and Adult classes which are limited to 10 swimmers. We aim to provide a staff to swimmer ratio of 1:3 from Toddlers Classes up to and including Intermediate 1 Classes. Only in extreme cases, such as last minute staff illness, may there be a higher ratio. All children’s swimming lessons are overseen by a Supervisor and up to 2 lifeguards. All of our staff are obliged to attend regular in-house training.
All of our lifeguards must attend regular lifeguard training provided by fully qualified RLSS Trainer Assessors. We supply armbands, floats and all equipment used in the lessons except floatie jackets or costumes.
